Cownt Basie is a Holstein breed with Keyboards on its sides! He is reading sheet moosic of his own composition Cowtown Serenade, and wears his trademark captains hat. The cows namesake was known for his simplistic accents . . . a moosician of few notes. So, Cowtown Serenade is merely three notes played to a single song moo-OOH-oooh.
The artists inspiration for his design? The white on black pattern which is so familiar with this breed gave me the idea that the pattern could be something other than a random shape . . . a skyline, a portrait, or a familiar black and white object, such as a keyboard. The thinking logically progressed to famous K.C. musicians (who play piano) . . . and Cownt Basie of course came to mind.

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
