Born in Montreal, Lina Morielli grew up in Darien and is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design. As both an artist and arts activist, she is involved in many aspects of the local art scene in Stamford. She is a former President of the Loft Artists Association and the recipient of three City Arts Partnership Program grants to produce that organization's Annual Open Studios and Performance Series.
Morielli has created and taught after-school and summer camp art enrichment programs for the I Have a Dream Foundation, the Yerwood Community Center and the South End Senior Center, all in Stamford. Morielli has also led TV / Video workshops for students whose work is then aired on Public Access TV stations.
Her award-winning artwork can be found in more than one hundred private collections; she has had solo exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, at the Capitol in Hartford, and at the Mayor's Gallery in Stamford. Her work can also be found in the permanent collections at Stamford Health Systems Tully Center, the Specialty Care Pavilion at the Bennett Cancer Center and at the new State Superior Court House in Stamford.
Morielli is currently working with a young filmmaker to produce a video promoting the arts in Stamford. The public may visit her studio at the Yale & Towne building on Canal Street in Stamford, located near the train station and I-95.
